I did a research paper in college about the link between cell phone usage and brain cancer. I found multiple studies showing the link to cancer and… low sperm count. I guess leaving your cellphone in your pocket close to your junk is a bad idea.
As if having radiation next to you isn’t bad enough how about we eat it? Yeah thats what the FDA just approved(watch video below). The same thing is done to meat so either way you’ll be getting it. Fortunately spinach was one of the easiest vegetables for us to grow this year. So as much as possible we like the idea of replacing spinach from the store with spinach from our backyard(amongst other foods). This isn’t really the reason we are doing it but its definitely good to rely less on what the government and corporations tells us is healthy. How many times have they been wrong? A few…at least.
Ok so I have upgraded to the latest wordpress release. My old theme is still having problems so it looks like we’ll have to use this black and white job until I can troubleshoot further. At least the content wasn’t destroyed and it appears to all be in tact.
I used to think twitter was for web junkies but after watching this video I can see the benefit of using it as a miniblog. Some things that can develop into bigger conversation pieces or connect people don’t always merit a full email or blog post. hmm Good point.
RG -The device at the center of your Uverse home network is called the Residential Gatway(picture right) or RG as the technicians refer to it. The RG is where the cabling from outside terminates. The RG sends video streams to the digital boxes and internet to computers. Devices like these in the future will handle all home networking. It is a router/firewall/wireless access point that provides for internet connection, tv, and phone. Everything is over IP so every device has an IP address. I believe it can only provide six so it can add up fast. Digital boxes -( enlarge picture below) are required and they give you 3/house. So if you have more tvs it will cost you $5/m for each box you get. Unless of course you realize that you don’t have to have a box for each tv. For example we have a 13″ tv in the kitchen with no box. I used the RCA outs for the living room tv and the coax out for the kitchen. Just wired it down in the basement then back up in the kitchen. Technically you could get 5 tvs with video signals. As for audio you’d have to split them up. The one drawback to this method is that you’ll be watching the same thing on both tvs. Is it worth the $5? Probably, but its up to you.
DVR - I really had not seen Tivo in person so getting the DVR with the package(that is less expensive than Comcast or TW standard) was a big plus. The DVR can record up to 4 standard def shows at one time. Not sure when I would ever need that but hey its there if I do. The DVR holds 120 hours of standard-definition (SD) or 24 hours of High-Definition (HD) recorded programs. I’m sure its not as good as Tivo but I don’t really care. If I ever need to watch more tv then shoot me because I’m not living. Plus I don’t need to be spending anymore $$ on tv.
Free On Demand - Possibly one of my favorite features is the free on demand video. There is an ample amount of children’s programing you can watch at anytime for free. Nickelodeon, Nickjr, Sprout, and others provide the content. Jet likes Dora, Diego, Franklin, Backyardigans, Wonder Pets, Max and Ruby. I guess that about covers it. Let me know if you have any questions.
Congratulations. So you did it! You finally plopped down a couple thousand for that new LCD or Plasma HD TV. Man it sure is nice. You must feel fulfilled. It feels like you are actually at the game. I mean the players really do sweat a lot! Your wife didn’t know Johnny Damon looked so good and Joe Torre looked so bad. Whats the deal with the bumps on his nose? Anyways…
Even before full-HD reaches mainstream, the Japanese government is already embarking on an ambitious joint project to develop the next-generation high-definition TV system…this new visual technology boasts 7,680×4,320-pixel or 33-megapixel clarity. That’s 16 times the resolution of today’s 1080p panels. via Crave
Yes, I intended to give you that sinking feeling in your stomach. Go spew real quick it will make you feel better. All of America is doing it.
You gotta have it though! Buy it Buy it! I’ll come over to your house. We can watch standard def since you won’t be able to afford Super Hi-Vision.Threes Company never looked so…bad…but hey Better start putting money away in your sock drawer they first tested this technology in 2003….and its 2008….so get to work.
I’m living the life every night watching Franklin on 25 year old Zenith my grandma didn’t even want. The ghost image and the miscolored tinting really adds to the effect. According to this I have zero amount of pixels and you will have 33.2! Brilliant! Might be a good idea to remind God that you will use it for his glory. I mean that is what you typically say when you see something you want right?
I went through a spell of not having time to post. Like I said much was happening but I just wasn’t able to or didn’t want to post about it. Around that time I got AT&Ts newest internet and cable offering. Uverse. Wiki here. Overall its a pretty good deal so I figured I’d write a little about it.
Towards the beginning of my two week vacation in December two younger door to door sales men showed up at my door. I thought about running downstairs to grab my Book of Mormon so if they were trying to preach any other Gospel than that of Jesus Christ I could jump up and down on top of there “Mormon bible”…spit on…and rip pages out in front of their faces and generally speaking go ape $*!T. (so post modern i know). Anyways ended up their youthful missionary work was sales for AT&T so they could get college payed for. Ok, I’m down. (more…)
As if having this blog doesn’t make me seem enough like a narcissist …thinking that I actually have “readers” is quite conceited of me. But for those of you…mom, dad… that actually read my blog there are easier ways than visiting randzig.com to see my post. You can suscribe to my content via a feed reader or via email.
My stats on RANDZIG.com are absolutely overwhelming! I have all of 18 suscribers. (insert sarcasm here) If you haven’t yet, suscribe to my feed now! Just click the feed icon and it will take you to my FeedBurner page where you can pick which feed reader you use. I use Google Reader. It is an excellent reader and integrates well with the rest of my Google apps.
If you don’t want to use a feed reader(perhaps you don’t read that many blogs) you can suscribe to RANDZIG.com via email. Easy as 1,2,3. 1. Look for the field below 2. enter your email address 3. an email will be sent to that address and you will just have to click a link to confirm. You will receive all of my post as they come in your email.
Sometimes I feel like I’m Marty Mcfly when he goes back in time with all the knowledge of such great advances in technology. Or maybe its the opposite, maybe I’m living likes its 1985 all over again. I have an IPOD that was gifted to me by my wife about a year ago. In all its glory it is quite amazing and quite the status symbol. I have around 35G of music on it. I listen to podcast, music, watch video the whole deal. In some ways I feel like I couldn’t live without it. Lately its probably been feeling like an unpet dog because its not the electronic device that I have been picking up the most lately. (more…)
Picnik - This is for those of you who sometimes ask for a copy of Photoshop or want something really basic to edit pictures. Its great for quick cropping and basic tweaks. The best part is that it connects with your Flickr account.
Grant has some good pictures up of Spencers trip to Japan.
Word of advice - do not send the picture to your right to your hispanic coworkers no matter how funny you think it is.
NPR has an article on overcrowded Russian orphanages. Not very pleasant read but word needs to get out so change can take place.
“Healthy babies are lying in hospital beds all day as if they were sick, sometimes for months or longer,” Koloskov says. “They’re completely ignored. No one plays with them or provides any kind of stimulation. That happens because orphanages where they’re supposed to go after birth are full.”
Last winter, another patient in a central Russian hospital noticed a room of abandoned babies with their mouths taped shut to stop them from crying. Her cell phone video shocked the country when it was played on national television. Reports of babies tied down in their cots are common. Many believe that’s because hospital staff are seriously overworked.
