People, I’m not joking when I say I almost died about a decade ago. I was in ICU for two weeks. Two! I cracked open my skeletor and popped my eardrum(which made it nice and bloody) riding a long board down a small hill behind LSHS. Yeah thats right. A LONG board. But Randzig I don’t know what a longboard is! Thats ok I’ve got your primer right here. Watch and learn.
Some say I was supposed to die that day and I think maybe I did… a little…but regardless I’m still in the presence of humanoids so I’ll have to deal.
A few years ago friends and I came up with a game we like to call Snake Pit. The game is pretty simple. Its similar to ultimate frisbee except the method of movement is riding longboards. At the begining of most summers we conclude we are going to play this game often. As it happens not one game of Snake Pit was commenced in 07. I think we are getting to old but I’m going to get reamed for saying it. Anyways I created a google doc asking them to collaborate with me defining the rules and regulations. I said,
Anyone able to define the snake pit game…any rules?
The Ride 4 Rachel House was a success. I have a set on flickr documenting the day. I was thinking about creating a group for users to add their pictures but figured it wouldn’t be needed since this was just a one day event. If you have pictures of the ride just make sure to tag them with the appropiate tags. I used “ride 4 rachel house” and “ride for rachel house”. The quotes are needed as they keep the text as one tag instead of each word being a tag.
I’ve scheduled you to meet me at The Hard Bean this Saturday May 12 @ 7pm. The Brilliant Geographers will be playing along with our good friend and fellow geographer of Omaha Gerram Mathews. You can buy his latest release at the Aware Store or just come to the damn show. Oh yes that did just happen. The Hard Bean is a little venue but we always have a really good time(free food for the performers). There is no cover charge so you have no reason to not come. See you there!
BTW- I’m on vacation and I feel like I’m resting after speaking the galaxy into existence because “it is good”.
Yesterday was “Kansas City Day“. I’m not sure why other than the fact that this “holiday” always coincides with the Royals Home Opener. I always love the Royals Opening day here in KC. Whenever I see those volunteers out selling those newspapers with their Royal swag on I get spring fever. Its a sure sign that Spring is here and Summer is on its way. It makes me feel good unlike the bitter cold I talked about here. (more…)
I’m not really into heavy music much like some. I typically listen to the type of music that is boring to many around me. Once some friends of ours were over and they asked why we had elevator music playing? Actually it was one of my favorites, Nat King Cole. Had they known they probably wouldn’t have said anything. I do however have a weakness for heavy music that is done right. Dragon Force and Lamb Of God do it right. Dragon Force is coming in concert and Lamb of God will be on tour also. Nalubuff turned me onto Dragon Force a while back. They are seriously intense and seriously talented. Watch the whole video and look for the rediculous dualing “two hand tap solos” towards the end. Its kinda hard to explain but there is a little humor involved with these guys. They are playing and singing in a way that is pretty rare(hokey) yet totally respectable. I mean just think about the name “Dragon Force” and try not to laugh. It is very funny but at the same time its not funny at all… to see your face melt off!! They are coming April 1 to The Beuamont Club. $25 dollars is a little expensive but to see this it is totally worth it!
I like Lamb of God because they are good but they are also vulgar so I won’t link to them.
The important thing to hold in mind is that all of our energies must not be consumed in merely getting through the day or the week. In the living of our lives from day to day we must be geared to goals or purposes that inform the character of all our activities. Our living must be structured by what it is that we are trying to achieve with our lives. Without seeming melodramatic, it is urgent to say that for many, the days which they are living now are all the days they will have. The only contribution that they will make to the total of man’s living and striving is being made now. What will be the extent of a man’s life he does not know - in what time or place he will come to an end is not given to him to know. The wise man, therefore, lives his life seriously each day but does not take it seriously. — Howard Thurman
