Today is the big day. For at least two years talk of this election has filled the media. It has pretty much run me dry. I attribute the sparse blog posting to the whole election process. It can really run you down. After today we will hopefully have a clear president elect. (I don’t want to hear about any of that popular vote vs. electoral college crap.) And after everything we’ve been through I think its time we unite regardless of our political affiliation around things that make us feel alive. That for me is music. Thursday November 6th come celebrate your victories or lament your losses while the Brilliant Geographers play at KCs dopest new venue. Yes I said dopest…it worked. What? You didn’t know we were still a band? Me either actually…but we’ll be their and I hope you can too.
We will also be playing with our good friend Gerram Mathews.

If for no other reason it would be a good excuse to come see this new venue in the Cross Roads across from the Power and Light district.

Its been a long week. You need a break. Why don’t you spend your Saturday evening in a little cafe, maybe have a nice sandwich on homemade bread, with some chill sounds of some local musicians playing in the background? We will be opening up for a band called The Bypass. They seem to have a unique style so come check them out.

Tonight I’ll be attending the Alison Krauss and Union Station concert at Starlight with my lovely wife. This was kind of a gift for her but fortunately we tend to enjoy the same things.
This weekend is the Ride 4 Rachel House. This motorcycle ride is a great opportunity for bikers to pursue their biking passion while raising money and awareness for the Rachel House Pregnancy Resource Centers. My Father in law has worked very hard to make this ride happen and I’m happy its almost here. If your interested in riding you can register at the ride.
Lastly, Brilliant Geographers will be playing tomorow evening at The Grand Emporium. This show is a little earlier than some we play so I hope to see you there.

I’ve scheduled you to meet me at The Hard Bean this Saturday May 12 @ 7pm. The Brilliant Geographers will be playing along with our good friend and fellow geographer of Omaha Gerram Mathews. You can buy his latest release at the Aware Store or just come to the damn show. Oh yes that did just happen. The Hard Bean is a little venue but we always have a really good time(free food for the performers). There is no cover charge so you have no reason to not come. See you there!
BTW- I’m on vacation and I feel like I’m resting after speaking the galaxy into existence because “it is good”.

I’m just sitting here at work unwinding from hectic past couple of weeks(yes I said “unwinding at work” ). In the past two weeks the BGs played 4 shows, and practiced 2. All the while I have had a lingering sinus infection. I’m recovering from that and from falling/sliding down the stairs at my house. I’m the third casuality so beware. Its definitely alot funnier when you see someone else falling down. (more…)

Yesterday was “Kansas City Day“. I’m not sure why other than the fact that this “holiday” always coincides with the Royals Home Opener. I always love the Royals Opening day here in KC. Whenever I see those volunteers out selling those newspapers with their Royal swag on I get spring fever. Its a sure sign that Spring is here and Summer is on its way. It makes me feel good unlike the bitter cold I talked about here. (more…)
