Nothing says Summer like sweet corn. Its probably the one thing I’m the most excited for. We wanted to try it last year but it didn’t work out. With the expansion this year we planted 8′x8′ of corn. The seedlings must have really liked the soil because they came up fast. Despite the fact that corn doesn’t like transplanting we were able to move several of them around to fill in empty spots. We are very happy this crop appears to be a success.
This is probably the most mature ear we have growing right now.
The corn silks go through a variety of colors and fullness before thinning out like the one above. The ear below is feeling awnry…must be adolescence.
