Oh what a weekend. Three kids…thats all I gotta say and that pretty much describes it. I mean that in the best way too.
We tried having a semi date night with an infant in tote and it was pretty close to being successful. We went out to celebrate my birthday(3-3) at Houlihans. I tried the Fish Tacos because everyone says they are good. And that they were… I mean come to think of it I’ve never had Fish Tacos before. So that was kinda nice. We had about an hour or so to relate to each other on an adult level without ninjas trying to assault us. They ultimately prevailed.
We had just sat down to watch Australia…no not the Wiggles…the movie! We got just past the opening scene that had some text we couldn’t read on our 27″ round tube Sharp television when we got a call. Oliver really likes being home with his parents…I mean really. Not even Papa that takes him on his motorcycle could keep him calm. So I ran out the door to go get him. Jet on the other hand was totally pumped to be spending the night so I left him with the “baby sitters”. So we still have two movies Australia and Fireproof sitting at home that will sit around until they get the late fees that BlockBuster tells you they don’t get.
Which leads me to the funny thing about parenting. Even though we both often get to the point that we are exhausted in every form we still both knew we wanted to get Oliver back home. From the time we left the kids to the time we got home and sat down to watch a movie it was three hours. That night we both needed three hours. What seems like such a little amount of time refreshed us to at least a level of sanity that can easily be lost in one day with three kids all 3 or under. For those of you with multiple kids you are probably thinking, “I told you so!”, and for those of you with one that plan on having more… Eventually you will be ok with not having a life either.
