Agri-whatever

Planning your 09 garden yet?  Me either…well its in its infancy…nothing solid at least.  I know I’ll probably build another bed…maybe…
Until then you need some some inspiration as to why you need to start planning.  Michael Pollan is interviewed on PBS about his open letter to the Presiden elect Barak Obama.

Agribusiness is  ”…a welfare program for the megafarms that use the most fuel, water, pesticides; emit the most greenhouse gases; grow the most fattening crops; hire the most illegals; and depopulate rural America.”  Time Magazine

Essentially what this quote is saying is if you are interested in cheaper fuel prices, slowing down the emissions of greenhouse gases, consuming less fattening food and more real food, seeking justice by not hiring illegals (essentially as slaves), not taking away the smaller farms all over the country and replacing them with agribusiness farms…then you are against the current standards in this country when it comes to food.  Our current standards are not sustainable.

Go here and watch both vids.  Its only a half hour total.
