I recently saw a fellows blog post talking about the first cassette tape he ever bought…and it got me thinking. The first tape I bought with my own money was Pornograffitti by Extreme. At the time I had no clue what the title meant. I just liked that “More Than Words” song. It had some sweet harmonies. Needless to say I took it back when I realized it was “bad”.
I also remember buying Boyz II Men. Yeah I was all over the map. Thankfully I redeemed myself by listening to my brothers and cousins Petra tapes.

Yeah I had every Carmen tape ever made but it wasn’t the first I bought. Apparently my parents were trying to indoctrinate me with those Christian values.
My brother will probably deny the fact but when I got a copy of Weezer(blue album) he told me I shouldn’t have it and Dad was going to get mad. Its true I tell ya.
I also distinctly remember having tons of “singles”…do they even make those anymore? One of my favorites was by Firehouse “Love of a Lifetime”!!
i got the blue weezer album for my 15th birthday from Sarah & “George”… MY brothers told on me and my parents threw it away. That’s MY weezer album story. what’s yours?
I got carmen some-o-dat. or maybe the one right before that where he’s wearing the black members only jacket and blue and black striped shirt on the cover. I think it had a song called spirit filled pizza(which might have actually been pizzaz and I couldn’t read).
paula freakin’ abdul-all the way. i “straight up” traded my pencil collection for her tape from a “cold hearted” friend who thot “opposites attract.” soon after came NKOTB. Jordan ruled.

First cassette tape: “We are the World” single with the MJ gang and I remember crying to the music video seeing the starving children…Amber and I had some fun nights kareoking to that!
First CD: Well I bought two at once Weezer blue album and Metallica “Kill Em All”(…”acting like a manaic…whiplash!”)

so i forgot one i also got around the same time…Hewey Louis and the News… I did own Paula Abdul as well… didn’t have to go through such a sacrifice to get it like Kate! haha
Isn’t it funny that we all had the same CD’s? I had Paula Abdul, blue Weezer, NKOTB, Boyz II Men, Amy Grant. Didn’t have Metallica, though. That cracks me up Carrody. I don’t see you as owning a Metallica CD. Top this one Weird Al Yakovich(sp?)
